About

The Renaissance-Woman in a Nutshell: list-maker & organizer, photographer, life-long geek,  travel nut (preferring the extreme & remote), teacher/trainer, always looking for ways to grow and give.

The Biography:

  • 1976 – “When did I first talk, Mom?” … (laughter) “I don’t recall a time you weren’t talking. Out of the womb you said “And as I was saying before..”
  • 1980ish – First computer. A Texas Instrument. Dad taught me to program in BASIC.
  • 1986 – I charged my sister part of her allowance for “flying lessons”. They involved pillows, an old pair of crutches, and the back of a sofa.
  • 1994 – Graduated Brandon High, FL. Drama geek. Had bangs.
  • 1996 – Learned the Russian word for “hangover” during summer studies at Moscow State University. (fyi: похмелье)
  • 1998 – Couldn’t figure out why the computer science classes at Loyola were teaching “hypercard” on Macs. Baffles me still.
  • 2000 – Discovered that the World Bank in D.C. has the best international food court of any place ever.
  • 2003 – Ate lots of noodles during 3 months solo travel in Southeast Asia
  • 2007 – Spent a summer working on a ranch in Santa Fe & photographed rodeos.
  • 2009 – Fell down flight of stairs. Broke hand.
  • 2010 – While volunteering at a women’s center in New Delhi teaching computer classes, the women learning to work in beauty parlors did my make up. I looked like a drag queen a lot of the time.

Our home is full of many Katie Weilbacher originals, and we look forward to seeing more in the future and on her new website. I highly recommend her work. She is a “people person” and is especially fun for babies and children. As examples on her site demonstrate, she has unique vision and is equally skilled at traditional shots as well as unusual views which reveal more personality in her subject. I like to have some of each! Go Katie!
